The Power that Defeats Death

Luke 7:11-17 1.

1. God Is Present and Personally Involved in Our Lives

   From Genesis to Jesus, God has never been distant or detached. He walks with His people, speaks to them, rescues them, and enters their suffering. In Jesus, God became fully present—God with us. He is involved in every moment of our lives, working with perfect timing and purpose, even when we don’t recognize it. Nothing we experience is coincidence; it is providence.

2. Jesus lived to Please the Father

   Jesus lived every moment to please the Father by revealing God’s heart to humanity. When He encounters death at Nain, His response is not judgment but compassion. His heart overflows with love for a grieving widow, and life flows from His words. Jesus shows us that God’s power is rooted in love, and His presence brings hope, healing, and restoration where despair once ruled.

3. Jesus Has Supreme Power Over Death

   Death is humanity’s greatest enemy and the final consequence of sin—but death is powerless in the presence of Jesus. With a single command, Jesus defeats death and restores life. This same power still works today. Through salvation, Jesus breaks death’s authority over us forever. Jesus alone is the power that defeats death.
