Prepare your Hearts - A Walk with Jesus Sermon Series - Pastor Chris
Prepare you Hearts
Matthew 11:1-19, John 12:44-50, Rev. 20:11-15
1. When you are confused, take your questions to Jesus John didn’t walk away in doubt—he leaned in. From prison, confused and disappointed by unmet expectations, he sent his questions directly to Jesus. Doubt is not falling away; silence and distance are. Like John, when God’s timing or methods don’t match our expectations, the right response is not bitterness or quitting, but honest prayer and seeking Jesus for clarity.
2. Jesus reveals who He is by what He does God does not always work the way we expect, but He always works in perfect wisdom. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are higher than ours. We may want Jesus to act quickly, decisively, or in judgment—but Jesus reveals the heart of God through mercy, compassion, and grace. Rather than proving who He is with words alone, Jesus points to His works. The blind receive sight. The lame walk. Those with leprosy are healed. The deaf hear. The dead are raised to life. And the Good News is preached to the poor. These are not random miracles—they are divine evidence of who He is and why He came. Jesus shows us that this is the season of grace. Before judgment, He brings healing. Before wrath, He offers mercy. His works reveal His identity: the Savior who comes to restore what sin has broken and to draw hearts back to God.
3. Prepare your heart John’s message of repentance was a necessary preparation for receiving Jesus. Grace is available now, but it will not last forever. Jesus came first to save, not to judge—but judgment will come for those who reject Him. The call is urgent: repent, believe, and receive salvation while the door of grace is still open. Preparing our hearts means coming to Jesus honestly, bringing our questions, trusting His ways even when we don’t fully understand, and choosing to walk in obedience to His will. Jesus invites us to respond to His love today, to believe, to turn toward Him, and to receive the life He freely offers.
